“For us, working in consultation with the industry is vital,” said Meacher. “Facilities such as this mean that, as a contractor, First Security can offer us sound advice on the skills the company needs in its officers, the effectiveness of current standards and, importantly, what can be realistically achieved in the future.”
First Security managing director Jonathan Levine has already targeted communications and conflict management as two major strands of training.
Speaking at the opening, Levine told Security Management Today: “Against a backdrop of heightened terrorist activity and pressure on police resources, our officers are increasingly being called upon as a first line of defence by the client base. It’s vital that they have the right skills to be able to deal with ever-changing client expectations.”
