Fleet management contract win for Madrid airport

The deployment was carried out in cooperation with NEO Work and Track and Grupo Detector.

An extensive fleet of cargo and passenger vehicles at Madrid Barajas International Airport, Europe’s fourth busiest airport by number of passengers, and the largest by area and a target for terrorist activity.

The fleet was outfitted with the Cellocator Compact Fleet, an innovative integrated fleet management unit with superior location, tracking, event driven reporting, logging, and security capabilities. Using the units, airport personnel are able to monitor the exact location at a given time of any of the vehicles across the airport, thus dramatically improving operational efficiency, as well as the maintenance of the various vehicles. Real-time electronic bus line schedules were available to users at the bus stations, allowing travelers to monitor the arrival and departure time of their required bus line, in order for them to plan accordingly.

Security personnel also benefit from the new supervision level which enables them to control the traffic in the airport during emergency situations. Further roll-out of Pointer’s GPS tracking devices is expected in 2008. Additional transportation projects in Spain are currently under development as well as through the Pointer Tecnosegur partnership.
