The Wallace Collection houses one of the finest collections fo French 19th century art in the worldNational art museum, The Wallace Collection, is to become one of the first buildings to have the new Gent by Honywell hybrid radio fire alarm system installed.
The museum, which houses one of the finest collections of French 18th century artwork in the country, is itself a work of art as the collection is stored in an 18th century London townhouse built for the 4th Duke of Manchester.
Gent by Honeywell will be used throughout the old building, with wired devices linked to loop powered radio transceivers supporting wireless devices in the public areas of the building.
The network is extended by using wireless devices themselves as transceivers. The range of the network therefore is essentially unlimited, with the longest radio link never being more than the greatest distance between two devices.
This is useful in older buildings such as these which are prone to radio dead spots, increasing the risk of a loss of communication in important public areas.
Greg Godden of Kent-based installers D Tecta Fire, who are part of the Gent 24 approved network, said, “It was important that we chose the right system as The Wallace Collection is a national treasure and houses one of the world’s greatest collections of French eighteenth century art. Integrated systems such as Plexus are ideal for projects like this because they are flexible and do not interfere with the aesthetics of the building.”
The installation will be completed in the early part of this year.
