Good news: door supervisors working legally
On Sunday 21 September, investigators from the Security Industry Authority and officers from Greater Manchester Police City Safe team went on patrol to check that door staff working at licensed premises were SIA licensed.
Officers and investigators visited four licensed premises in north Manchester, close to Eastlands Stadium, and found that all 12 door staff checked were working legally.
SIA investigator Sam Warrington said: “We were pleased with the results and this operation demonstrated that door staff working in the city centre recognise the importance and value of holding a valid SIA licence.”
“We’d like to thank our partners at Greater Manchester Police for working with us and we will continue with our visits to ensure that only SIA licensed door staff work in positions of trust.”
Inspector Ron Orr, from the Manchester City Safe team, said: “We thoroughly support the work that the SIA is doing to ensure that all door staff are working both legally and to a high standard. We rely on these members of staff, who are placed in an important position, to ensure the safety of the public while they are out enjoying themselves.
“This kind of operation will continue to be a part of our ongoing work with partners to rid bars, pubs and clubs across north Manchester of crime and alcohol-related disorder so that people can drink responsibly in a safe and happy environment.”
