Huge blaze devastates furniture factory
Around 40 firefighters battled through the night to extinguish a fire at a furniture factory in West Sussex.
As much as 80% of the building was destroyed by the fire, which was well lit by the time crews were alerted.
West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service arrived at the Lancing industrial estate, in Lancing, just before 8 pm on 9 July.
They found smoke and flames pouring from the rear of the factory and out through the roof. The building was made up of an industrial unit and several offices.
Sections of the corrugated roof were also shattering in the heat and flying into the air scattering debris on the ground.
According to the service, the fire had already spread to involve the whole of the factory area and a large gable-end wall was leaning inwards and showing signs of collapse.
Crews remained on the scene overnight to dampen down hotspots. The fire was declared finally extinguished at 10.43 am the next day.
An investigation into the cause has now been launched.
