I4S video: MITIE launches MobileTech service for retailers and property owners

The service – called MobileTech – comprises a national network of vans and multi-skilled technicians launched by the FTSE 250 outsourcing and energy services company.

The benefit of this new service for clients is that one technician can complete multiple tasks – delivering up to 80% of routine planned maintenance services on each visit, saving time and money for both the contractor and client.

The service is a completely new approach to multi-site maintenance in the FM industry and is ideally suited to retailers across the country.

The model is currently being deployed with Lloydspharmacy under a five-year contract across its 1,677 stores.

Following a vigorous tender process, Lloydspharmacy was quick to conclude that MITIE’s MobileTech approach to delivering multi-site services is the ‘best-fit’ model for achieving challenging cost saving targets and improving efficiencies.

The contract covers all of Lloydspharmacy’s UK stores and is MITIE’s largest MobileTech contract to date.

MITIE’s MobileTech team are already at work, delivering a greater number of planned maintenance services at the store in a single visit, improving efficiencies and adding significant value to the contract.

Greater ownership, stronger working relationships

Explaining MITIE’s approach to multi-site FM, Kerry Sheenan (the managing director of MITIE’s National Mobile Service) said: “Each MobileTech technician is responsible for their own group of stores, which installs greater ownership and encourages stronger working relationships between the technician and the property manager.”

Sheenan continued: “Our MobileTechs are continuously trained and can deliver many more services in one visit. However, the more complex jobs such as relamping, HVAC and compliance are still delivered by our specialist engineers. We believe that this is a smarter way of working.”

Commenting on the Lloydspharmacy contract, Gary Kennedy (the organisation’s head of property and development) said: “MITIE’s approach to multi-site FM is a real step change for both us and the retail market. We’re improving efficiencies throughout the contract, from less time being spent dealing with multiple contractors and invoicing to fewer emergency call-outs being logged with the MITIE Help Desk.”

MobileTech is a new service model within National Mobile Services which was launched by MITIE earlier this year.

Royal Liver team wins GB pound 15,000 award for securing Liverpool’s most prestigious building

A security team from MITIE has been crowned winner of MITIE Stars and awarded a prize of GB pound 15,000.

MITIE Stars is an annual awards scheme open to the company’s 62,000-plus employees which highlights the talent of MITIE people in their everyday jobs and celebrates those that go the extra mile to meet the needs of clients and colleagues.

Described as ‘ambassadors’ in their place of work, this year’s winning team was responsible for securing Liverpool’s iconic Royal Liver Building with Front of House services and security officers. The team was nominated for acting with pride to represent the culture and heritage of Liverpool and going beyond what is required to protect the prestigious building.

The winners were also applauded for their passion and dedication to their client, working overtime to ensure the smooth running of weekend and late evening events (including charity events and ministerial visits).

It’s the integrated team approach to deliver for their client which won them the award – MITIE worked closely with its client and the individuals involved operated as a single, seamless team.

The team of ten has decided to split the GB pound 15,000 prize, and plan to use the money to pay for special Christmas presents for their children and grandchildren and dream holidays for their families.

Comment from the end user

Client Peter Fane, who’s head of property at Royal Liver Assurance Limited, said: “The team is dedicated to looking after our tenants and visitors and we’re delighted that our successful partnership with MITIE has earned the team praise and recognition. It’s fitting to have a leading security team looking after Liverpool’s most iconic building.”

Ruby McGregor-Smith, the CEO of MITIE, commented: “Every year I’m inspired by our MITIE stars. I know there can only be one winner but the Royal Liver Security Teammembers do an exceptional job and I’m delighted to recognise their hard work and significant achievements.”
