New version of Samsung iPolis Mobile app
A new version of the Samsung iPolis Mobile app for use on iPhone and Android smartphones has been launched. The app provides improved access to Samsung cameras and DVRs, as well as enhanced live and playback options.
Version 2.0 of the free app can be downloaded from iTunes and the Android market. It allows users to remotely control the PTZ functions of the latest Samsung network cameras via an easy-to-use interface, and is also compatible with the Samsung SRD series DVRs.
Set-up can be completed in less than a minute, after which users are able to view streamed video from their selected camera via a wireless or 3G network.
“The original version of this app has proved to be highly popular among customers who are looking to gain maximum benefit from their investment in a Samsung video surveillance system,” said Peter Ainsworth, senior product manager for Samsung Techwin Europe who also attended the IFSEC International Press Briefing and conducted a stand tour for the benefit of all media representatives.
“Retail loss prevention managers who are not permanently based at one location, or in fact any security manager who has responsibility for more than one site can take advantage of the ability to remotely monitor live images of any suspicious activity or retrieve recorded video of any incident via their smartphone.”
Samsung Smart Security explained
Samsung manufactures video surveillance and access control products designed to meet the current and future needs of security professionals. The products use innovative technologies, many of which are unique to Samsung, which can deliver tangible benefits and outstanding value to those involved in combating criminal activity while also offering time and cost saving advantages to installers and system integrators.
Samsung’s philosophy of delivering Smart Security is reflected in a product portfolio which provides customers with the flexibility to choose the best solution for the job in hand. This choice includes a comprehensive and competitively priced range of analogue cameras, DVRs and monitors, a complete end-to-end IP solutions range, licence-free viewing and recording software and an impressive line-up of HD megapixel cameras which incorporate Samsung Techwin WiseNet DSP chipsets to allow the multi-streaming of video while putting the user firmly in control of bandwidth management.
‘Hybrid’ options include encoders which provide a cost-effective and easy-to-implement method of adding analogue cameras to an IP/network-based video surveillance system, and HD-SDI cameras (which allow the transmission of uncompressed and non-packetised Full HD (1080P) video over analogue cabling).
Samsung’s biometric, proximity and smart card as well as PIN-based access control systems can be fully integrated with Samsung’s SRD DVR range. This allows end users to achieve maximum advantage from their investment in a security system by ensuring that access control events and alarms may be reliably synchronised with relevant video.
