IFSEC 2011: JVC’s Yash Patel wins inaugural IFSEC Special Award

Well-known throughout the industry as ‘Mr CCTV’, Yash Patel has deservedly won the inaugural IFSEC Special Award for “25 years of outstanding service” to the surveillance market within the security sector.

JVC Professional’s executive director responsible for new business development gratefully received his accolade from UBM Live’s Venues, Protection and Leisure group director Simon Parker in front of 600-plus security professionals at the IFSEC Security Industry Awards 2011 ceremony (held at the NEC Birmingham Hilton Metropole Hotel on Monday 16 May).

This new award is designed to celebrate and honour those individuals who have contributed much to the security industry across the years.

Fantastic salesman, consummate professional

“I’ve known Yash for many years,” commented Simon Parker. “Not only is he a fantastic salesman and a consummate professional, but throughout his time in the industry Yash has also been a loyal friend to myself and indeed the team behind IFSEC.”

Parker added: “Yash cares passionately about the customer, and he’s always thinking of new ways in which he and JVC Professional might provide an even better level of customer service.”

In conclusion, Parker explained: “Yash is a real Gentleman. It’s always a pleasure to work with him.”

Speaking about his award, Yash Patel told SMT Online: “What a surprise! I was truly lost for words, Brian. This award is very special to me and greatly appreciated. I will treasure this trophy as I do the memories of the last 25 years working with the team at UBM and members of the security industry.”

Yash went on to state: “I will never, ever forget the support and help given to me over this period, not just by all the team at UBM Live but so many practitioners across the industry, and I look forward to our continued friendship. That’s very important to me.”

‘Mr CCTV’ thanked the entire team at UBM Live’s Security Portfolio, with special mentions for Simon Parker, portfolio director James Blue, IFSEC’s event director Charlie Cracknell, group content editor/SMT Online editor Brian Sims and UBM Live’s CEO Simon Foster.

Looking back on 25 years

Reflecting on his career to date, Yash suggested that the greatest achievement for himself and JVC was moving from a standing start in the security sector and creating a “substantial business” (first in the UK and then, of course, across Europe).

During that time, Yash feels the most significant move for the industry has been that from analogue to IP and networks-based solutions. “The path towards HD technology has really been cemented at IFSEC 2011,” he added.

Of course Yash hasn’t left our industry. He’s carrying on working as before, but now at a somewhat steadier pace both here in the UK and on developing new routes to market in India.

The IFSEC Special Award is designed to run on an annual basis

To this end, IFSEC organiser UBM Live would welcome any nominations from the industry
