IFSEC Blog: The environment and security
The company’s senior global manager of Sony’s marketing division, Matt Soga, put a lot of emphasis on ‘environmentally friendly’ cameras and solutions.
‘Going green’ and the issue of the environment are topics we hear discussed in every other area of our lives these days, but until now it hasn’t really been something we have heard much of in the security industry.
But it is worth bringing up. In a cynical – possibly realistic – way, displaying your ‘green credentials’ is always going to be good PR for any company, and can even help to win jobs. It’s a powerful persuasive tool throughout the world, and in the boardrooms of the most important and visible companies and public sector organisations.
But the security industry also has a responsibility, just as other industries do, to reduce waste and lessen the impact of its activities, in manufacturing, installations, and in areas such as packaging. I’d be keen to hear of any other green initiatives being put forward by security firms.
