IFSEC International: “Get up to speed with IP or be left behind”

Security professionals without a working knowledge of IP-based systems and products are at risk of being left behind in the rapidly evolving security marketplace.

That’s the message from the organisers of IFSEC International 2012, who are hosting an extensive IP education awareness programme at this year’s show in order to help visitors safeguard their future business.

IFSEC International event director Charlie Cracknell said: “It’s crucial that both security installers and end-users are as familiar with IP and networked security technologies as possible.

“We’ve seen reports suggesting that the US security market has already reached its tipping point in terms of greater numbers of IP security products being sold than analogue, and while there is definitely still a place for analogue in legacy systems, the future is, inevitably, on the network.

“So to help safeguard the businesses of IFSEC International visitors, and in conjunction with our exhibitors, we have put together a comprehensive education programme with an emphasis on IP and integration skills and knowledge. It makes IFSEC International 2012 the most important destination for discussion and debate on the future of electronic security.”

Anixter and show organisers UBM will be presenting the ipAssured Education Zone at this year’s show, where a team of experts will offer presentations on leading industry trends.

There will be demonstrations of a open migration path from analogue to IP that is both scalable and interoperable, and for installers and integrators, sessions on the potential of IP for their businesses, and the tools required to achieve that potential.

These will include:

  • maintaining market knowledge
  • image quality
  • interoperability
  • standards
  • preconfigured product solutions

For end-users, business drivers and trends towards the convergence of physical and IT security will be examined, including looking at compliance with regulations and standards, and return on investment and implementation efficiency.

Anixter will also be hosting a programme to support current and future video surveillance applications, while Norbain will be talking to visitors about their IP system designs.

Also at IFSEC International 2012:

  • The Tavcom Training Theatre will be looking at the move from IP4 to IPv6
  • The IFSEC International Centre Stage will feature a session on ‘Convergence and the future of security’Samsung will be allowing visitors to try out the latest IP, network surveillance, and access control technologies on their stand
  • Honeywell will host a ‘Technical Support Clinic’ offering IP and integration advice.
