IP CCTV for new Paris airport terminal

Now with over 5,000 cameras supported by the network, Controlware believe Charles de Gaulle could have one of the largest IP CCTV networks in the world.

Controlware took care of supply, supply chain logistics and support management whilst the Direction Informatique et Telecommunications department of Aeroports de Paris Group designed and installed the system.

The new video surveillance system covers both airside and passenger areas including luggage sorting, check in desks, access to restricted areas, ATM cash machines, car parks and perimeter monitoring applications.

The integrated IP CCTV system enables Aeroports de Paris to monitor, record and manage video from thousands of analogue cameras and to operate a crisis centre that can be used in case of emergencies.

Controlware has been working closely with the Direction Informatique et Telecommunications department at Aeroports de Paris since 2003 when they embarked on an upgrade programme to improve the level of security throughout their airports.

As part of this project Controlware was selected to supply video codec’s that enable video from analogue cameras to be streamed over IP networks. Controlware has assisted Aeroports de Paris with the evolution and expansion of their surveillance network and has supplied codec’s that to date support a total of 5461 cameras.

At a cost of euro 645 million the Galerie Parisienne extension to terminals 2E and 2F at Charles de Gaulle is the largest boarding satellite in France and provides further capacity for both planes and passengers.

To bring the Galerie Parisienne onto the existing Aeroports de Paris IP CCTV network 150 high performance 4-port video codec’s were deployed connected to 600 cameras. Each codec enables live viewing of video at 25 f/s 4CIF and 12 f/s 4CIF for recording.

Carmelo Musumeci, General Manager for Controlware Central Europe said: “The combination of high performance solutions backed up by a proactive service and support network is crucial for our customers and especially important for large-scale and evolving projects like Aeroports de Paris.”
