‘Largest’ IP project planned for Lanarkshire

The deal, worth more than GB pound 1.3 million, will meet the needs of the council’s new Central Monitoring Infrastructure, a purpose-built structure where the viewing, management and recording of multiple CCTV schemes throughout the North Lanarkshire region will be possible. The solution, provided over Telewest’s Evolved Ethernet network, will link all of the connected police stations back to a central location and be managed 24 hours a day, supplemented by a comprehensive Service Level Agreement.

“At North Lanarkshire Council, the security and safety of citizens if a top priority, so it was crucial we chose the right solution,” Councillor Tom Maginnis said.

“CCTV is a proven crime deterrent, and implementing an IP solution allows us to expand on this by leveraging the existing network and CCTV infrastructure to provide management, viewing and recording over IP.

“The cost and resource rationalisation is significant for us, the potential applications are vast, and the installation will undoubtedly help combat crime in the area.”
