Met puts £15m tag on false alarms
The MPS, together with BT RedCARE, are working to tackle this problem by honouring intruder alarm companies who are contributing to the fight against false alarms.
They will be honoured at a ceremony at New Scotland Yard on June 7 in the first initiative of its kind to be implemented by a police service anywhere in the UK. The Intruder Alarm Awards recognise intruder alarm companies who have achieved the lowest false alarms rate within the MPS over the past year. The scheme is designed to encourage installers to improve standards in the areas of design and installation of alarm systems, essential in the drive to reduce the number of false alarm activations.
The awards are divided into three categories with a bronze, silver and gold award winner in each.
Superintendent Barry Clarke, head of Communications Branch, will introduce proceedings. Commander Ronald McPherson, Group Director of Communications Programme, will present the awards.
