MITIE awarded security contract at NHS Foundation Trust

University Hospital Southampton provides healthcare to 1.3 million people living in Southampton and South Hampshire, as well as specialist services in neurosciences, cardiac services and children’s intensive care.

As a major centre for teaching and research, and as one of the largest acute hospitals in the UK, the hospital needed a security provider with proven experience in the health sector – and with the capability to also provide car park management.

Following a competitive tender process, MITIE’s Total Security Management business was awarded the three-year contract based on its expertise in the sector, strong presence in the Southampton area and ability to add value to the hospital through the delivery of a bespoke security awareness training package.

Commenting on the contract award, Bob Forsyth (managing director for MITIE Total Security Management) said: “We’re delighted to be working with University Hospital Southampton to help it create a safe environment for its patients, staff and visitors. I’m sure that we can add real value and bring innovation to the contract through our bespoke training services, and it’s really great to see proactivity around raising the awareness of security risk at all levels.”

MITIE’s Total Security Management business takes a risk-based approach to the provision and management of all security services, delivered through one management team to achieve cost and resource efficiencies.

MITIE sees the future of security being technology-driven, and is investing heavily in working with its clients to implement future-proofed security strategies.
