MITIE Group awarded two “strategically important” contracts with the Ministry of Justice
The FTSE 250 company has been awarded the total FM contracts for Her Majesty’s Courts and Tribunal Service (HMCTS) in the South of England and two prisons (at Brixton and Isis). This is the most that could have been awarded to MITIE through this tender process.
Under the same framework agreement, MITIE will also be eligible to bid for future opportunities to provide FM for other ministry properties, including prisons, across England and Wales.
The contracts are for a five-year period with a possible two-year extension. With base contract values totalling approximately GB pound 40 million per annum and up to GB pound 25 million project works to be undertaken each year, the total value over the period will range between GB pound 200 million and GB pound 455 million.
The contracts are for fully integrated FM and encompass security, cleaning, maintenance and project works. They’ll commence on 1 February 2012.
In addition to these contract awards, MITIE was also successfully appointed to the Minor Works Framework for the MoJ in April this year.
Business focusing on the MoJ
MITIE has formed a Justice sector business focusing solely on opportunities with the MoJ, the UK Border Agency and the police sector.
The contract to provide TFM for the courts in the South of England is MITIE’s most strategically important with the Government and is also its largest in the public sector.
Ruby McGregor-Smith, chief executive of MITIE Group plc, commented: “We’re delighted that the MoJ has awarded us these total facilities management contracts, which are strategically very significant for MITIE. We have a long track-record of supporting the MoJ and its estate, and we now look forward to building on this relationship further in the coming years.”
