MITIE secures £30 million FM contract with Scottish Government
The contract was awarded under the Government Procurement Service FM framework agreement, with MITIE overcoming “strong competition” from other eligible suppliers.
The five-year deal is expected to represent a total value of at least GB pound 30 million.
The contract, which commences on 1 October, covers over 80 buildings across Scotland, including specialist scientific facilities located in Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Perthshire as well as the Student Awards Agency for Scotland, Science and Advice for Scottish Agriculture, Accountant in Bankruptcy and the Scottish Fire Services College.
MITIE is committing to self-delivering over 95% of the services which will include M&E maintenance, project delivery, energy management, cleaning and a range of soft services.
The partnership builds on MITIE’s existing seven-year relationship with the Scottish Government and provides a number of their collaborative partners with the opportunity to benefit from the economies of scale that a procurement contract of this size will deliver.
Adopting an integrated FM model builds on the success of the existing contract and will “deliver greater efficiencies through a joined-up approach”.
According to MITIE, the effective monitoring of energy and the identification of energy efficiency projects will support the Scottish Government’s commitment to further reducing its carbon footprint.
MITIE, the Scottish Government and all collaborative partners will now work as a genuine partnership to develop, implement and enhance the overarching property strategy.
