New 16-channel NVR from JVC
Like its predecessor, the VR-N1600E incorporates embedded Milestone XProtect software and is being sold as a single-box solution that can be connected to any supported IP camera or encoder.
JVC says this flexibility is especially useful when creating a surveillance system that uses existing equipment.
Recording images at a maximum frame rate of 240 fps in VGA mode, the NVR has automatic IP camera detection. With this feature, the IP addresses of each device are assigned a corresponding IP address from the built-in DHCP server as and when required.
The VR-N1600E’s open architecture should allow seamless integration of building management systems like access control, public address systems and point of sales systems.
In addition to using camera and encoder alarms, the VR-N1600E units also feature eight alarm inputs which can be connected directly to devices like PIR security sensors and door contacts.
The recorder, which is rack-mountable, comes with an inbuilt 500GB hard disk drive and can be upgraded with an additional 500GB HDD. JVC claims that using the external USB port, up to 4TB of storage can be added to work with the recorder. The unit also supports RAID 1 (mirroring) internally. The VR-N1600E’s VCR/DVR-like jog-shuttle control aims to make it easier for operators to navigate through recorded footage.
“An enhanced variety of channels and functions are added ensuring that IP security systems are accessible to every installer and operator,” said Yash Patel, executive director of CCTV at JVC Professional Europe.
The NVR is compliant with network attached storage devices for video archiving and two network ports for capturing video streams from IP cameras or encoders.
