New dimension for domestic alarm systems
[
In the quest for inovation in the domestic fire detection market, FireAngel has launched a new wireless system to provide early warning of fire or carbon monoxide.
At the heart of the Wi-Safe range is a remote warning handset which works with the company’s wireless smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. The handset can be typically placed by a bed to provide a strong audible and visual alert, as well as to remotely control some detector functions.
The system has been launched to increase the chances of people asleep hearing an alarm, especially children. As soon as the handset picks up a signal form a ceiling detector, its alarm will sound and a light will flash. When it is then taken out of its cradle, it automatically converts into a torch and emits a sound to help locate the person holding it.
The company says the system was developed partly in the light of research in Australia which, it says, shows that only 6% of children aged 6-15 wake up when a standard smoke alarm on a landing is activated.
John Walsh, managing director of FireAngel commented: “The Wi-Safe range is a major step change in how we will use smoke and CO alarms in our homes, and addresses the growing concerns with respect to waking from deep sleep during danger.”
