New passive protection guides
[
Two new codes of practice – one for the onsite installation and inspection of board systems (TG14) and the other for sprayed non-reactive coatings (TG15) – have been issued by the Association for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP).
Together with guidance on intumescent coatings (TDG 11), the guides describe the specification and installation of products manufactured by ASFP members and also establish procedures for their effective application and control on site. In conjunction with the manufacturer’s instructions, these procedures will serve as a guide to determine the required level of fire protection for a structure, says the ASFP.
The guides also reminds specifiers and contractors of their obligation to pass on details of all relevant fire protection measures to the ‘responsible person’ under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
