Guarding company First Security has strengthened its management team with the appointment of Jim Boodrie as head of business development. Boodrie joins from G4S Security Services (UK), where he managed major accounts with blue chip clients, and has nearly 20 years’ experience in the guarding sector (working in the main across retail and financial portfolios).

Legion Group providers of security and parking services to clients in the public and private sectors has appointed Stephen Greenaway as operations director (with responsibility for all aspects of service delivery and account management on the company’s nationwide contracts portfolio). Stephen has worked at senior management level for Chubb Security Personnel and OCS Security, and spent 12 years with the Thames Valley Police.

With current managing director Steve Gorski having been appointed to the position of US distribution and channel manager based in Boston, Phil Doyle takes on his role at Axis Communications in the UK and Ireland. Doyle hails from leading retail technology group TAG Company, where he served as EMEA managing director for three years. Prior to this, Doyle held senior positions at Thales e-Transactions and was business development director at Nortel.

CCTV specialist Samsung Techwin has made two major appointments within its sales and CCTV divisions. First, Simon Shawley returns to the company as senior sales manager for the UK and Eire after a successful spell at DVTel. In addition, the company has recruited Gary Fletcher-Moore as UK technical manager (CCTV). Gary has worked within the electronic side of the security industry for over 22 years, the last six as head of technical support at Pelco (UK).

Frontline Security Solutions has strengthened its management team with the appointment of Peter Kidd to the position of technical services manager. Kidd has been with the company for the past decade, of late serving as systems support manager. One of Peter’s first priorities is to oversee an upgrade on SmartServ, Frontline’s service response management system for clients.

The AD Group parent company of Dedicated Micros has announced the promotion of Pauline Norstrom to the position of director of worldwide marketing for the Group (accountable directly to chief executive Mike Newton and with reporting responsibilities to the AD Group Board). Norstrom has been with the Group for eight years, the last two spent as head of marketing for AD Group Worldwide (which includes Dedicated Micros, RemGuard and D-Tec). Pauline is chairman of the BSIA’s CCTV Section, and has just been appointed to the Programme Board of the National CCTV Strategy.

In addition, the AD Group has promoted Hugh Devereux (who joined the company back in 2005 from Baxall) to director of product management for Dedicated Micros. In this enhanced role, Devereux assumes responsibility for all aspects of product management from initial concept through to the development and introduction of new models and their life-cycle management and positioning). He’ll also oversee the adaptive engineering of systems to meet specific end user requirements.

Audio visual signalling concern Klaxon Signals has appointed Barry Simpson as regional sales manager. Barry boasts many years’ experience in the fire and security sectors, joining from Emergi-Lite where he held the same role. Prior to that, Simpson worked as a design engineer at Tyco on large-scale marine and offshore projects.

Pyronix the detection system developer has made two appointments. Neil Taylor becomes UK sales manager, having performed the same function at Texecom. At the same time, Maurice Taggart is appointed as account manager for Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Maurice brings 25 years’ experience to the role, his most recent assignment being an area manager’s role with Gardiner Security, based in Belfast.

Payne Security the provider of personal ID, brand protection and document authentication solutions has a new managing director in Mark Palmer. This expanded position (Mark was previously general manager for operations and sales) reflects the company’s managerial reorganisation designed to improve efficiencies and customer focus. Palmer helped to oversee the creation of parts of Payne Security back in 2005 following the merger of Morane and Laminex with the Payne organisation.

Richard Fradgley lead investigations manager at the RBS Group’s Security and Fraud Department has received a Commander’s Commendation from Mike Bowron, Commissioner of the City of London Police. The accolade is a rare distinction for a civilian, and recognises Richard’s tireless work on Operation Horizon (targeting gangs of fraudsters using forged Passports and IDs to open bank accounts in the UK). Richard produced 104 witness statements and 13,500 exhibits in support of this investigation.

Charlie Herrington has joined Tunbridge Wells-based safe provider InSafe International as national sales manager. Charlie has spent over 25 years in the security sector, gaining experience in Cash-in-Transit, Cash Centre management and ATM engineering. His new role at InSafe will involve support for leading financial institutions, cash carriers and ATM-related client businesses.

Previously sales and managing director designate at MultiVid PTY, Geutebruck’s marketing partner in South Africa, Charles Volschenk assumed the post of sales director at CCTV systems concern Geutebruck GmbH last August. Now, Volschenk has also assumed overall responsibility for marketing.

TeleEye the manufacturer of CCTV surveillance and BS 8418-compliant transmission equipment has appointed Andrew Jackson to the post of account director in the UK. Andrew has extensive security industry experience, a proven track record in business development and a wealth of knowledge relating to Far Eastern and Middle Eastern business and culture. Jackson has worked at Gardiner Security (now ADI-Gardiner) as a divisional manager and then at Baxall, where he served as director of export sales.

Pat Curran co-founder of Bell Security/Bell Group has announced that he’s to step down from his role as chairman of the UK and Ireland operations within the parent business (Niscayah Group, formerly Securitas Systems AB) on 30 June. On 1 June, Bell re-branded and renamed itself Niscayah. Curran co-founded Bell Security in 1986 as a provider of corporate security systems.
