Event security and crowd safety specialist Ian Burrows has rejoined Octavian Security as commercial manager. 41-year-old Burrows – a former event controller at Trent Bridge cricket ground and director of Three Counties, whom Octavian bought in 2003 – is tasked with leading the business development team.
Former technical officer David Wilkinson has been promoted to technical manager by the British Security Industry Association. For the past two years, Wilkinson has been heavily involved in the development of not only BSIA but also British Standards.
CCTV Control Room specialist Winsted has appointed Terry Shough to the position of general manager. The move sees Shough leading the sales team throughout the EMEA region and supporting the company’s extensive customer base with the design, build and installation of bespoke Control Room solutions.
Following his recent appointment as vice-chairman of the BSIA’s Export Council, John Davies – managing director of access control concern TDSi – has been granted a position on the UK Trade and Industry Defence Security Organisation’s Security Sector Advisory Group. The Advisory Group has been set up to offer words of wisdom on strategy for the promotion of UK security solutions in overseas markets.
Payne Security – the brand protection and personal ID card solutions provider – has strengthened the team with two new appointments. Michael Moorey becomes the company’s first sales development manager for Smart Cards, joining from Burall InfoSmart, while Nikki Knight has joined as sales manager (national accounts). Knight was previously marketing manager with Alaric Systems.
Bandit (UK) – exclusive UK distributors of the Fog Bandit security system – has strengthened its management team with the addition of Neil Chrismas as sales director. Chrismas boasts over ten years’ industry experience gained with the IBP Group, working across the financial, Cash-in-Transit, leisure and retail sectors.
Video transmission specialist Network Video Technologies (NVT) has just appointed Paul Speller as general manager. Paul is tasked with running operations in the UK and the EMEA region, having moved from Pentax where he held a managerial role. Developing key initiatives through the support team is a major goal for Speller.
Esther Wassmann has been appointed managing director for Great Britain at resource, the support services company operating across the UK and Ireland that provides security solutions to a range of blue chip clients. Wassmann has held a number of senior roles at the Compass Group (most recently serving as UK sales director of the Business and Industry Division).
Secure integrated communications provider Zenitel has appointed Rob Rentenaar as country manager, headquartered in Brussels. For the past decade, Rentenaar has held several sales and marketing roles at 3COM Benelux BV (a company that he’d been leading as country manager for the Benelux region since 2004).
Doron Bergerbest-Eilon – founder, president and CEO of security consultancy ASERO Worldwide – has joined APCO Worldwide’s International Advisory Council. Armed with extensive security and risk management experience, Bergerbest-Eilon’s main role will be to assist clients in developing strategic security plans. Doron is the former head of the Protection and Security Division (and the most senior ranking security official) of the Israeli Security Agency, and has advised various Government agencies on counter-terrorism issues.
Remote monitoring concern BG Controls has strengthened its UK presence by opening a Belfast office and appointing John Roberts as regional support manager to head up the operation. Roberts will report to managing director Duncan Biggins.
Skills for Security director and industry stalwart Dai Prichard – the founder of Resolution Security – has joined Wilson James as a director. Prichard will be consulting with and supporting clients in specialist security projects, particularly those involving the integration of manpower and technology.
Sue Seaby – head of group security at Barclays Bank plc – has decided to leave the company (and, indeed, the finance sector) having been instrumental in restructuring the Group’s security function over the past 18 months. Sue is to become managing director of the Global Aware International consultancy.
Bitron Video has backed its bid to become a major player in the door entry market sector by appointing three new managers. Brian Murphy becomes sales manager, Mark Davies the technical manager and Doug Jones is operations manager.
