Open Day highlights test of fire-resistant ductwork
[
Fire-resistant ductwork specialist, Fire Protection Limited, has hosted the first of a series of open days at its Harlow base. The day consisted of a factory tour, an introduction to the manufacturing process, and the R&D involved in the production of fire resistant ductwork.
The company is now planning similar future events targeted at different industry professionals, such as building control officers, mechanical services consulting engineers and mechanical contractors. Each event will be designed to explain the facts and technicalities of fire resistant ductwork systems that are relevant to that particular group.
The first event was attended by 30 mechanical contractors and consultants. It began with a 45 minute CPD seminar on the why, where and how of using fire resistant ductwork. Visitors also witnessed a BS476 Part 6 test (method of test for fire propagation for products), BS476 Part 7 test (method of classification of the surface spread of flame for products) and BS476 Part 24 test (method for determination of the fire resistance of ventilation ducts).
Information on future events can be obtained from Fire Protection Limited.
