Pelco DVRs certified “Qeeps compatible”
Extensive trials carried out at Pelco’s labs in California showed that both the Pelco DX8000 and DX8100 DVRs operated effectively with the service, delivering full-colour footage to handheld devices.
“Thousands of Pelco customers can now be assured that they can reliably receive live viewing and alerts on their mobile device, wherever in the world they are,” said Stewart McCone, technical director of Qeeps’ parent company Vemotion Interactive.
Qeeps is a hosted service that allows users to connect remotely to DVRs over the internet, receiving real-time and recorded footage on almost any mobile device. The system delivers full-colour video using a patented version of the H.264 encoding standard for low bandwidth devices.
Official certification programmes
For a number of years, the Qeeps technical team has been working on software interfaces that make the system compatible with all of the major DVR manufacturers – without the need for additional onsite equipment.
Pelco is the latest manufacturer to have some of its products certified for use with the service, and for a number of years the Qeeps technical team has been working on software interfaces that expand its compatibility to new DVRs.
“Although we have spent a long time getting Qeeps to work with every major vendor at a technical level, joint official certification programmes are an ongoing strategic project that will help Qeeps to reach as wide an audience as possible,” said McCone.
Qeeps hopes to certify Pelco’s entire product range in the next year.
Monthly subscription
To use the service, customers need to buy a Qeeps licence, register with the Qeeps website and supply the IP address and port details of the DVR they wish to monitor. The user then selects a monthly subscription package and installs a small video viewer and remote control software application onto the mobile phone they wish to use.
Earlier this year a ‘professional version’, including enhanced management reporting, support for multiple users on the same shared account and custom notification, was launched.
Qeeps is planning to announce further interoperability agreements with a number of major video security systems manufacturers over the next few months.
Qeeps is sold directly via www.qeeps.com and by a network of independent security systems integrators through distributors Norbain, ADI-Gardiner and Videcon.
