American firm Acro has signed a deal which will allow its handheld peroxide explosive detection device, Acro-PET, to use new technology from Life Science Research Israel (LSRI).
The collaboration means Acro-PET will now be able to detect the entire spectrum of dangerous explosives, including those made for the commercial and military sectors.
“This is an important milestone in Acro’s evolution as a company offering a full array of explosive testers providing immediate detection in the field,” said Acro chairman and CEO Gadi Aner.
The entire deal is subject to Acro achieving minimum annual revenues and the company must pay royalties to LSRI for using its technology.
Acro-PET was originally designed to quickly detect peroxide-based explosives like triacetone triperoxide (TATP), which were used to devastating effect in London’s terrorist attacks on July 7th 2005.
