Pilgrims Group expands specialist team

As global businesses face increasing security challenges, it’s being learned the hard way that efficient security measures must be taken seriously.

To assist businesses with implementing appropriate security solutions for protecting both staff and assets, corporate security specialist Graham Urwin has joined risk management expert Pilgrims Group in the role of client operational security manager.

Urwin brings over 22 years’ experience gained with the Royal Military Police (RMP) and the British Army Intelligence Corps to his new role, not to mention knowledge gained from having spent over ten years in senior corporate security positions.

Working with high profile organisations

In addition to Urwin’s exemplary service in the RMP and British Army Intelligence Corps (during which time he received a Commander-in-Chief’s Commendation), his experiences as a security practitioner included managing and advising high profile organisations such as Foster Wheeler Energy, The Post Office, Novartis Pharmaceuticals (UK) and the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority.

In his role with Pilgrims, Urwin will be focused on specific client operations around the world, ensuring that clients receive advice, information and operational support in a timely, flexible and effective manner.

“Having fulfilled senior corporate security positions in several large firms, I felt joining Pilgrims would allow me to further use this knowledge and insight within a highly respected security organisation,” said Urwin when asked about his new role.

“The role allows me to focus on corporate global security challenges while having the support of a dedicated group of security professionals to help implement the solutions. This has been successfully demonstrated in my work for the global energy engineering and construction company Foster Wheeler.”

Additional skill sets and experience

Pilgrims’ managing director Bill Freear commented: “As part of an evolving organisation we have to continually seek out and recruit people with additional skill sets and experience. Graham brings a new dimension and an excellent knowledge base which further strengthens our team and broadens Pilgrims’ service offering to clients.”

Freear concluded: “We’re delighted to have Graham on board as a valued colleague, and we very much look forward to a long and beneficial working relationship.”
