Piramid on ladder
Protech’s LT, or Ladder and Tower, version of its Piramid is a dual technology sensor specifically designed to protect against climbing up ladders and towers. A three-position digital switch controls the direction of movement required for a sensor alarm.
The sensor field can be adjusted to detect only approaching movement; detect only receding movement; or detect both approaching and receding movement. The Piramid LT sensor is generally mounted at the top of the ladder/tower/structure looking downward.
In this configuration the sensor is field adjusted to detect only an approaching target – someone climbing up the ladder or structure. “The biggest hazard associated with looking downward is rain, but due to the ‘directional control’ capability of the Piramid LT, even very hard rainfall is invisible because it is moving in the wrong direction,” Protech says.

Management changes
Bosch has introduced enhancements to its Video Management System, which is an IP video security solution designed to work with Bosch CCTV products, allowing users to integrate existing analogue components into one easy to manage set-up.
Version 1.1 of the VMS adds support for the Bosch IntuiKey CCTV keyboard, which can be connected to an IP decoder, allowing camera selection on analogue monitors, camera sequence control, and full PTZ control. Another enhancement is a Dual Authorisation on Login facility that provides special privileges when two operators log in together, allowing additional functionality in certain circumstances. The VMS can now also be integrated with Bosch’s Building Integration System.

Best of both worlds
Sanyo says its new hybrid DVR “offers the best of both worlds” as it can record ‘real time’ images from a combination of both IP and analogue cameras.
The DSR-HB8000 records at 400 frames a second and capture images from up to 16 cameras, four of which can be IP cameras. Sixteen channel audio recording is also possible, whilst the machine also has a potential on-board storage capacity of up to 3.75TB of video.
Sanyo says the DVR utilises MPEG-4+ compression technology, which it claims “allows rapid, high quality transmission of data over a network and gives especially fast-forward and reverse playback”.
It is equipped with telemetry coaxial control, and its Monitor Plus feature allows other networked DVRs to be accessed.

Intelli Lock
Intellikey’s new Online Lite is an IP connected intelligent electronic locking system that can be retrofitted for use with standard door furniture with key operated locks.
Each Online Lite can support up to six locks and each lock can have up to 1000 associated keys, with the controller connected to a central controller by hard wired or wireless Ethernet. It offers standalone functionality in the event of a loss of communications and each individual lock controller unit controls access and logs all access attempts, even if not connected to a central controller.
Each controller is programmed via a simple local web interface where keys can also be quickly and simply enabled or disabled for use with individual locks. It also incorporates a time and date function to allow or restrict access as required, giving users complete access control over each lock within the system based on time, day and key parameters.

More range
Paxton Access Limited has launched a new keycard for its for its hands free access control solution, offering a maximum range of up to 50m.
The new triple-function Net2 keycard operates as a normal Net2 token, as a normal Net2 hands-free token on Net2 equipped doors and, by operating the keycard buttons, as a long range access card. The keycard’s two buttons can be programmed to operate two different access points, such as ‘in’ and ‘out’ car park barriers.
Pressing a button momentarily boosts the range of the keycard from a maximum of 2.5m (like a hands-free keyfob) to a maximum range of up to 50m.

In with the CLIQ
Assa Abloy Door Solutions has launched Assa CLIQ technology, which it says is a master key system that “combines the intelligence of an electronic access system with a traditional configuration to provide maximum security and greater flexibility”.
When a key is used, it not only has to fit the locking mechanism, but electronics built into the key must also communicate with the electronics package within the cylinder. If the pre-set codes match, the key activates a small electric motor, which drives the electromechanical blocking element, and unlocks the side rail.
The key itself provides power through an easily replaceable battery that lasts for up to two years or 20,000 operations.

Smart dolly
Smart CCTV has launched an innovatively designed ANPR ‘dolly’ for use in a variety of applications, including car park crime, traffic surveys, and journey time analysis.
The company says the ANPR Dolly “releases the user from the constraints of a single location for CCTV monitoring; communicating over G3/GPRS mobile telephony infrastructure and battery powered, it is fully deployable in any location at any time”.
There are two variants. The ANPR Dolly Overt uses a very near infrared illumination system that appears as a dull red flash to the driver of a car, warning them that the number plate has been captured. This system is used in access control, sector speed control and applications where the aim is to deter an unwanted action such as theft of vehicle from secure compounds.
The Covert variant uses a longer range infrared illumination system that is invisible to the driver. This is used in applications such as journey time analysis and traffic analysis where it is important not to distract the driver.

Integrated Galaxy
Honeywell has launched its Win-Pak SE with Galaxy integration, a single interface that combines access control and video with intrusion. The software can control and manage employee or customer access to designated or restricted areas in many types of facilities and businesses.
It allows users to manage three separate systems through a single easy to use software interface which not only saves time and money, but also improves the level of security by eliminating user code sharing.
Honeywell says the system is fast and easy to set up, and has an enhanced intrusion function, which allows users to use added features such as an on-screen virtual keypad, and real-time event and alarm reporting.
“Because it offers a three-in-one solution, installers are able to offer end users substantial enhancements to existing systems or significantly improve the operation of new security systems by reducing training and labour,” the company says.
