Professional attitude helps door supervisor scoop award
Leigh Burke, who works at Reflex, a bar in Broad Street, Birmingham, was named ‘Best Door Supervisor’ at the city’s Best of Broad Street awards on Monday.
Organised by Birmingham’s Business Improvement District (BID) and held at the International Convention Centre, the event aims to celebrate the contribution that bars, restaurants and individuals make to the city’s “Golden Mile”.
“The ceremony was a great opportunity to meet those making a difference to Broad Street and I was pleased to present the award to Leigh Burke,” said SIA chief executive Mike Wilson.
“The Best of Broad Street award for Best Door Supervisor demonstrates the licensed trade and leisure industry’s commitment and willingness to support business best practices that are fit for a healthy and professional night time economy.”
Burke was also commended for his involvement with Project Griffin, a security initiative run by West Midlands Police.
Over 300 guests attended the event, including BID members, Birmingham’s Lord Mayor Randal Brew, Broad Street manager Mike Olley and SIA head of investigation (West) Christy Hopkins.
