The new awards recognise the importance of apprentice installers to the overall provision of a quality service, and commend apprentices who have shown real promise at an early stage in their careers.

He is also his own company’s Apprentice of the Year; Anthony Matthews, of Pointer (national winner) has worked on a wide range of technologies and has been enthusiastic about learning about advanced systems and taking on more responsibility. He is popular with customers and has excellent feedback from them; James Gordon of Initial Electronic Security Systems (national winner) has come on in leaps and bounds since starting his apprenticeship. He combines a hard working approach with good exam results.
Said Tim Geddes, BSIA Deputy Chairman: "A key aspect of ensuring quality service is having installation engineers who are skilled, well trained, diligent and attuned to customers’ needs. Clearly this process starts at the apprentice stage and these awards recognise apprentice installers who have shown a great deal of promise and commitment to quality, focusing on their theoretical grasp, range of technologies dealt with and customer interface skills."
