Radio stations blackout after aerial blaze

A number of radio stations went off the air after a suspected arson attack on a communications mast near Bristol.

Firefighters were called to the mast in East Dundry at around 3.15 am on 11 April.

BBC Radio Bristol and Jack FM were both disrupted for most of the day. The mast is used for other communications services which were also affected.

According to the Bristol Evening Post, the transmitter is also used by Avon Fire and Rescue service for its own communications, but its ability to react to emergencies was unaffected due to back up arrangements.
