Reflex believes the vehicles are the first ever of their type to be deployed for such a specific, high-profile task. The two long-wheelbase Mercedes Benz vans incorporated long-range functional PTZ cameras, as well as thermal imaging units. Two vehicle-mount deployable 6m hydraulic masts carry interchangeable camera assemblies.
The vehicles were designed to operate in varying climates and environmental conditions, with the ability to operate down to -30 deg C, using on-board heating distribution and air conditioning throughout, including cooling for the control equipment. The digital recording equipment provides up to 2TB of storage. The vehicles are designed to carry two systems operators, an on-board technician and a driver.
