SAFE launches security risk assessment programme

The programme – which provides all of the learning materials to support the delivery of a four-day course leading to the new BTEC Level 4 in Security Risk Management – is being offered under license following extensive development.

The materials cover seven topics including security risk, internal and external crime, asset threat and countermeasure implementation, e-crime, security risk surveys and checklists, physical security and countermeasures and cost-benefit analysis.

“We believe our programme of learning provides the most comprehensive available at this level for security risk assessment,” explained Raymond Clarke, SAFE’s managing director. “Our objective has been to produce a package at management level which explores risk to properly people and information within a financial and business context. We’re delighted by the product that has been produced.”

Stuart Kedward – Human Resources director at The Shield Guarding Company which has piloted the materials – told info4security: “In common with all SAFE programmes, the learning materials are challenging and add real value to those that tackle them. It’s our intention to use the package for training our contracts managers. In this way we’ll be able to raise the quality of advice and service that we can provide to our own customers.”

Level 2 for security officers

In addition to the Level 4 programme, SAFE has announced that, later on in the autumn, it will offer materials for a shorter Level 2 programme designed specifically for security officers.
