The Williams Formula 1 team are to change their pit procedures in response to the devastating fire they suffered at the Spanish Grand Prix.
Quoted on BBC Sport’s F1 site, Williams chief engineer, Mark Gillan, said although the precise cause of the fire in Barcelona two weeks ago was still unknown, it happened while fuel was being handled at the back of the pit garage.
New procedures are likely to include the strengthening of fire safety provisions at circuits.
"There will definitely be a change to circuit procedures," said Mr Gillan. "But we have all agreed a certain level of cover at a circuit and that level of cover was in place.
"Collectively we need to look at the level of cover, both the fire and the medical support, and undoubtedly things will change as a result of this."
Around 90% of the garage infrastructure and IT and radio equipment was destroyed.
Williams have borrowed equipment from other teams in order to be fully operational at this weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix.
