Scaffolding theft attempt foiled
An attempt to make off with GB pound 700 worth of scaffolding belonging to major building contractor William Davis Ltd has been foiled by a wireless alarm security system backed up by 24 hour CCTV.
Tag Guard developed the system especially for building and construction sites.
The theft attempt occurred at a development site in Leicestershire.
Said Paul Dunning, security manager for William Davis: “We got a call late at night from Tag Guard’s 24-hour remote monitoring station to say that the onsite wireless security system had been activated, so the police were alerted and they managed to apprehend the thieves in the process of making off with a large quantity of our scaffolding – no doubt destined for a local scrap metal merchant.”
“Yet again the Tag Guard wireless security system has worked perfectly and in our experience it has proved more effective than manned guarding”.
Said Richard Lang, managing director of Tag Guard Ltd: “Another example of thieves trying to take advantage of the high price of scrap metals by stealing valuable scaffolding from a building site.”
Tag Guard has also developed a purpose-designed security system specifically to combat the lead crime wave. The system comprises of a detection cable which is secured to leaded areas with a weather-resistant adhesive rated for external use.
If any part of the cable is tampered with – which would occur if a thief attempted to remove the lead – it would activate the TagAlarm system inside the protected building.
