State of Physical Access Trend Report 2024

School safety

ASP conducted an intense two month security review across every inch of the school, to ensure optimum security and peace of mind to both pupils and staff.

Advanced Security Partner director Richard Sumner said: “The whole perimeter of the school is now locked and there is only one point of access into the grounds.

“Reception will monitor this point, allowing them overall control of who enters the grounds. We have also been able to install smart card technology to the school, which is a really exciting development. “The smart card works like a fob, and every pupil and staff member will carry one. The card allows the school to be aware of who is in the building at any given time.”

They can also programme each card with the relevant data to allow access to only the rooms in the school any given individual requires.

“In time they will act as library cards and also have a debit-style facility which will enable pupils and staff to purchase lunch and use vending machines. It will cut the paper trail that most schools have to deal with these days and make it a money free zone.”

ASP also repositioned CCTV cameras, interfaced an alarm system in new buildings to integrate with the existing system, and advised on additional lighting and landscaping of the grounds.
