Security entrepreneurs line up for $500,000 prize
Finalists in the Global Security Challenge (GSC) will be trying to impress judges with a range of cutting-edge inventions, including products that can identify computer users through the rhythm of their typing, protect people from explosions and assess health through eye scans.
Industry experts from the US National Security Agency, MI6 and the US Department of Defence will be judging entrants’ ideas on their ability to make the world a safer place.
Formed by the London Business School in 2006, the annual GSC competition aims to find the world’s most promising security entrepreneurs.
Last year’s winner – Ingenia Technology – developed an anti-counterfeiting product that can authenticate and track goods by mimicking human biometrics. Since scooping the half-million dollar prize, Ingenia has secured a contract with a US federal law enforcement agency and signed a partnership deal with Bayer Technology Services in Germany.
