Security Institute organises counter-terrorism seminar
The seminar (which takes place on Thursday 13 March in The Trafalgar Room at The Victory Services Club, Seymour Street, London W2) will include specialist presentations on The Threat, the International Bomb Data Centre and hostile reconnaissance alongside a discourse about Project Argus (a multi-media table-top exercise based on a conventional terrorist attack).
Run by the National Counter-Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO), Project Argus explores ways of assisting companies to prevent, handle and recover from a terrorist attack. It achieves this by taking businesses through a simulated terrorist attack. The simulation affords security professionals a unique opportunity to both learn from and contribute to valuable lessons that will help in protecting the business and the community.
Each Project Argus ‘event’ explores the available options – what is likely to happen in the event of a terrorist attack, and what should your priorities be? Project Argus highlights the importance of being prepared, and having the necessary plans in place to help safeguard staff, customers and company assets alike.
This Security Institute seminar is being sponsored by the Metropolitan Police Service. As a result, delegate charges have been kept to a minimum (covering basic catering and conferencing arrangements). Subsequently, a donation will be made to the Metropolitan Police Service Widows and Orphans Fund.
The seminar runs all day, from 9.45 am through to 4.10 pm. To book your place, please contact The Security Institute’s general manager Di Thomas by close of play on Friday 7 March. Telephone 08453 707717, e-mail: [email protected]. Cost per delegate is GB pound 95.00, and is EXCLUSIVE TO SECURITY INSTITUTE MEMBERS ONLY.
Before attending the event, it’s worth reading two previous guides also produced by the National Counter-Terrorism Security Office. ‘Secure in the Knowledge’ (Adobe PDF file, 2.5 Mb) is your guide to business continuity and Expecting the Unexpected (Adobe PDF file, 0.5 Mb) your guide to business security and sharing information securely. Alternatively, visit the Nactso website.
