Security salaries on the rise
For the second year, 100% bonus payments have been achieved against a background of cost reduction. As the escalating threat of terrorism underlines to corporates the importance of having a reliable business capability in place to deal with such events, so the chief security officer’s influence is growing.
The survey suggests that security professionals newly recruited to an existing CSO position will negotiate on average a 9% increase on the organisation’s current salary grade. For those negotiating for a newly-created CSO position, the average salary will be GB pound 115,000 pa.
‘Selling’ the security function as a business enabler is likely to bring the practitioner huge advantages in influence, salary and board room support, reports SSR.
