SIA considers regulating private investigators
The 76-page partial Regulatory Impact Assessment looks at a series of options for regulating both the private investigation and precognition agent sectors.
Under a remit set out in the Private Security Industry Act 2001, the SIA has to decide whether to license both sectors or continue to allow them to self-regulate.
On Wednesday, the SIA began a three-month consultancy period with the industry which is expected to conclude on the 24th October. The Home Office will then decide how the two sectors will be regulated.
