Siemens adds to SpecWriter tool
Siemens Building Technologies has added to its free SpecWriter tool.
The instrument allows consultants and engineers to create fire safety specifications by answering performance-based questions. It is kept up-to-date through online updates, including developments in standards and sound engineering practice as well as emerging and time-proven technologies, says Siemens.
The UK version allows for specifications to be created for fire detection and alarm systems, voice evacuation (PA/VA) and fixed extinguishing systems. It also simplifies specification for sites with systems that have a combination of fire detection and alarm systems, voice evacuation and/or fixed extinguishing, says the company.
Chris Downing, Siemens Building Technologies, UK extinguishing product manager, said: “It is important that specifications for crucial life safety systems, such as fire, are produced without any contradicting details, so are achievable and kept up-to-date using the latest industry knowledge, yet meet national standards in a cost-effective and deliverable way.
“The release of the new SpecWriter tool enables consultants and engineers to create a specification designed to provide an operable system tailored to the specific needs of a project.”
