Thames Valley Police – and its partners throughout the UK – can now take advantage of special fixed pricing, negotiated under a strict tendering process. This allows them to call off equipment and services at short notice, at the same time taking advantage of pre-negotiated rates.
ANPR is helping police forces tackle criminality on the roads. It is an invaluable tool in promoting public assurance that crime is being systematically reduced. ANPR systems read, record, log and check number plates against a stored database. If recognised as either significant or suspicious, the system can alert users to take the appropriate action.
Siemens has developed a somewhat more sophisticated ANPR system than most, based on its considerable understanding of the security requirements of both the public and private sectors. The system will automatically check the number plates of moving or stationary vehicles against the Police National Computer’s records, those held by the DVLA or local databases. It’s capable of rapidly deploying accurate, timed information on stolen or untaxed vehicles, known criminals or suspects’ vehicles.
