Songs About Security: I Am The Law
Welcome back to Songs About Security, the only weekly security feature to bring you music videos that have some tenuous link to the security industry.
This week it’s metal time, so who better to turn to than our resident heavy metal enthusiast – and Police fan – Brian Sims, editor of SMT Online. Take it away, Brian.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you Anthrax (not literally, you understand). In 1987. At the peak of their powers. Moshing it up within the confines of the world famous Hammersmith Odeon.
“This lot were one of the pioneers of thrash metal, along with Metallica, Megadeth and the fearsome Slayer. The track was born out of the band’s love for Judge Dredd, fictitious law enforcer par excellence who stars in the mega-popular comic 2000 AD.
“It’s one of their best efforts, and a fundamental inclusion for any heavy metal club playlist. ‘They call him Judge, His last name is Dredd, So break the law and you wind up dead, Truth and justice are what he’s fighting for, Judge Dredd The Man, He is the law!’
“If the SIA were to use Mr Dredd for its enforcement operations I reckon the industry would see the light pretty damn quick!”
In this video there’s also a bit of introductory stuff about comics, backstage. Wow!
Rock on, dudes.
(Brian’s true metal passion, Iron Maiden – he calls them ‘the best metal band ever’ – have been shortlisted in the Best Live Act category for this year’s Brit Awards. Also – there’s an Iron Maiden movie on the way.)
