In this instance, ‘the carnival’ refers to the exhibition and conference that is IFSEC. Just so there’s no confusion, like.

And the band is The Seekers. They weren’t The New Seekers at this stage. But, weirdly enough, they didn’t feel the need to refer to themselves as ‘The Old Seekers’, or ‘The Original Seekers You Know And Love’. It just wasn’t required.
