Sports events deal secured by Showsec
Showsec is to be the official security partner for the annual Sports Event Management Conference (SEM), the SportBusiness Sports Event Management Awards and the Sports Security Summit (SSS). The agreement begins with the 2008 events, continuing a relationship which dates back to the inaugural International Sports Security Summit in 2004.
Showsec has become one of the most experienced and highly-respected operators in its sector. For 25 years, the company has provided specialist event security and crowd management for sports events, ranging from the 2002 Commonwealth Games to the 2008 UEFA Cup Final in Manchester when the mighty Rangers narrowly lost out to Zenit St Petersburg. In addition to one-off events, the company is retained to provide stadium security and safety services by a number of major football clubs for soccer matches and other events including rock concerts.
Sharing information and ideas
Mark Harding, the managing director at Showsec and current chairman of the UK Crowd Management Association, said: “The Sports Event Management Conference and Sports Security Summit provide an excellent forum for sharing information and ideas with the leading sports event professionals from around the world. With the ever-changing dynamics and challenges facing the security and crowd management sector we once again look forward to participating in this year’s conferences.”
Andy Clark of organiser Rushmans said: “Showsec has provided a fantastic service to our previous conferences as an official supplier so we are delighted that they are committing to the next three years as a full partner to our events. We hope they will continue to benefit from the new business opportunities at our show. They will continue to ensure the security and safety of our delegates via stringent screening procedures. They are true innovators in the security management industry.”
Delivering new perspectives
Now in its third year, Sports Event Management is established as the major annual meeting for local organising committees and event owners. It exists to help attendees understand and succeed in the business of major sports events, delivering new perspectives and fresh thinking from the people who make the world’s biggest events happen.
The fifth Sports Security Summit attracts the decision makers in Olympic and major event security. The cornerstone of every event, security remains at the top of the agenda as the conference brings together the leaders of intelligence and security services, event owners, local organising committees, local and national Government for a unique knowledge sharing opportunity.
