Support for IFSEC London move in 2014
The organiser’s of IFSEC International have received an ‘outstanding’ response to the news that the show, part of the Protection & Management Series, will be moving to ExCeL London from June 2014.
UBM Live revealed overwhelming support from visitors, exhibitors, associations and media partners all looking forward to IFSEC International, London 2014.
Among the positive feedback were members of our list of the most influential people in the industry including the CEO of Security Products from Siemens, Peter Hawksworth, who described London as “a truly global city” saying that IFSEC’s move was “an exciting move for the industry as a whole.”

Another member of the Top 40, Dr Peter Speight, Director of Security Risk Management, Securitas Security Services, added: “The London event will draw more visitors due to superior transport links and the ability for visitors to drop in and out of meetings while they’re in the vicinity of the City. It’s a top decision.”
Meanwhile key media partners Pro-Activ Publications were also supportive, with editor Andy Clutton saying: “We fully support this exciting development as IFSEC positions itself in order to continue to serve the security and fire markets for the future.”
UBM Live, who also operate this community website, were keen to underline that this move has been made following extensive market research conducted over the past 12 months with key stakeholders. Leading associations including the BSIA, FIA, FPA, NSI, SSAIB and Syl ‘underpinned’ the research, according to today’s press release.
Chris Pinder, external affairs director of the National Security Inspectorate (NSI), spoke on the organisation’s behalf saying: “May I congratulate UBM Live on recognising the increasing importance of the need to move IFSEC International and FIREX International back to London. I have no doubt that the move to London in 2014, which is fully supported by the NSI, will take both IFSEC International and FIREX International to a new level.”
Global showcase
In a wide-ranging selection of quotes from the industry, additional feedback included that of ADT UK’s Jordi Andreu, who said: “ADT UK is delighted to see UBM’s Protection and Management Series move to an internationally accessible location. Events like IFSEC International offer the security industry a global showcase and a London venue will enable visitors, exhibitors and partners to make the most of this world-class event.”
Meanwhile, visitor and security professional David Gill expressed his excitement at the new venue. He said: “The ExCel Exhibition Centre is a modern venue with great facilities. This is an excellent move. Well done to all the team at UBM Live.”

I suppose I can understand why a change of location to London is on the cards but as a northerner, I am disappointed at the decision. The NEC is a great venue, easy to get to by car, plane or train (yes there are airports and train stations north of Watford!), plenty of cheap parking, friendly brummies, etc, etc.
I for one will not be attending the show once it goes to London as it will mean an expensive train journey and hotel stay rather than a tenner to park and twenty quid of fuel.
Sorry to hear this Tony. I’m sure you could make it to IFSEC/FIREX for the day pretty easily though. Train from Birmingham New Street to London Euston takesless than an hour and a half. 30 mins across London by tube and you’re there! Still, 2013 at the NEC ahead of us first.
@william gillett I agree with you. I am one of those friendly brummies so i am bound to. If the NEC isn’t living up to the requirement then why not look north, Manchester and Liverpool both have excellent venues that could be used.
Yes London has airports, trains and busses but so does everywhere else in the UK and yes there are other cities in the UK other than London!
2 votes for NEC, 1 for London, can we start a poll !!!?? 😉
I’ll have to vote for London. As an international traveller there are no direct flights to Birmingham but plenty to London.
Other cities in the UK? Are you sure? 😉 I could start a poll, interesting idea! As long as you promise to vote for london, haha!
Hmmm, 2-2 now. The NEC is right next to Bham International airport Colin, you sure I can’t convince you? 😉 too many tube/taxi journeys in London town!
To many tube/taxi journeys and a great expense for the privilege.
