Temporary alarm systems code of practice issued by SSAIB

The SSAIB have issued a new code of practice for temporary alarm systems such as those used to protect building sites and vacant buildings.

The 22-page document contains is designed for those specifying, designing, installing or repairing temporary alarm systems and covers a range of areas including alarm systems operation standards, environmental testing, remote monitoring and response services.

The scope of the code of practice is described as ‘guidance on the installation and commissioning of temporary alarm systems and/or equipment installed within void property.’

The temporary alarm systems code of practice will be available exclusively via the security service certification provider’s website in the coming weeks, but you can get hold of it now by emailing [email protected].

Chief executive of the SSAIB Geoff Tate said, “A wide variety of companies are providing an increasing number of temporary alarm systems to minimise the risks posed to these types of premises.

“These risks can cause significant harm in terms of time, expense, disruption and impact on future insurance premiums. Our new code of practice meets a need for auditable recommendations on all the issues involved in ensuring this protection is efficient, effective and false alarm-free.”

The code is available now for free by emailing [email protected].
