The Big Issue

A detailed programme of work was discussed at the second meeting of the Forum’s Working Group, setting the agenda for 2003. Although the Forum has been established primarily to encourage more women to enter the private security industry – and to further their careers – the work of the Forum will additionally tie-in with a variety of broader BSIA initiatives. The overriding aim is to promote careers in the private security industry as being diverse, challenging and full of opportunity.
Women’s Forum Working Group members represent a variety of different functions and industry sub-sectors. The programme of work for 2003 is equally wide-ranging, and includes: the production of a careers pack containing case studies on both men and women working in different types of security careers and at different levels, a booklet on equal opportunities/diversity and a seminar looking at best practice approaches to attracting and retaining the right calibre personnel to the industry.
