Speaking about the statistics, detective sergeant Mark Hooper commented: “In spite of TruckPol’s emphasis on the importance of being vigilant against crime, the majority of lorry thefts continue to happen when keys are simply left in the ignition. At best, only the driver’s bag or mobile phone will be stolen, but at worst the whole lorry goes. Such losses are almost always avoidable.”
Hooper continued: “At TruckPol, we’re busily working to build up a picture of freight crime in the UK. We’re also encouraging people to come forward and contact us if they’re involved in any road freight crime incident.”
