TSS gets Korean subway contract

Telindus Surveillance Solutions (TSS) will design, implement and support a fully-integrated surveillance system for six new stations on Line One of the city’s underground network.

During the process TSS will also install its ‘best of breed’ video codec, Centauri Classic, which uses MPEG-2 video compression technology and includes full resilience and redundancy. A Centinel NVR will then store footage from each camera for 30 days, using a frame reduction system to cut down on the amount of storage space required.

A collection of software applications – the CellStack Integration Suite – will be implemented to control the entire network.

Line One is the first of three planned subway lines in Incheon. Already 23km long, the line will be extended to link the main part of the city with Songdo International City, the new high-tech business complex and free economic zone.

The project is due to be completed by September 2009 but, as Incheon begins hosting the World City Expo the month before, schedules may be pushed forward.

As well as its work on the London Underground, TSS has installed CCTV on Moscow’s Metro system, at Miami Airport and on the M25 motorway.
