AFP Air Technologies have released a new app that helps fire engineers to calculate the correct size of a pressure venting system for gaseous fire extinguishing systems.
Engineers can use VentSizer to calculate the free vent area (FVA) required for a gas suppression system by entering the volume of the enclosed space and the gas that will be used.
The app will then show you the required vent area and produce a list of products that fit the calculated requirements.
While the app is a reliable guide, it is of course worth noting that it is only for estimating purposes and final free vent area sizes should be provided by the manufacturer of the agent selected.
One satisfied user of the app said, “Finally, no more need to spend my time working out vent sizes on a scrappy bit of paper!”
The VentSizer app by AFP will be available for Windows and iPhone later this year.
