State of Physical Access Trend Report 2024

Vicon’s on the ball at Upton Park

The installation is part of a multi-million pound redevelopment of the Barclaycard Premiership club’s ground in the heart of London’s East End. The all-new Upton Park now plays host to the modernised Centenary and Bobby Moore Stands as well as the sparkling, GB pound 35 million Dr Martens West Stand.
Vicon’s Surveyor CP22 cameras – complete with pendant housings, self-learn tours and in-sequence editing capabilities – have been installed by ADT’s Loughton office to monitor access roads leading to the ground and the concourse areas beneath each stand. Images are monitored from the central Control Room, housed in a purpose-built extension immediately adjacent to the Bobby Moore Stand.
Importantly, the new cameras form a node within the Newham CCTV scheme run by operations manager Bob Lack that is based on facial recognition. On match days, police and club security staff use the camera images to keep an eye out for known trouble makers.
